In this research-based design project, the author deals with the problem of people having difficulties in navigating themselves in BART station platforms. Based on universal design principles, through literature review, interviews, site observation, this creative work project will develop a set of wayfinding systems to find a way to help visitors and tourists to the area and residents who don’t take BART on a regular basis navigate these confusing stations and platforms. The desired outcome of the redesigned wayfinding system would be easy to
understand and accommodates a wide range of individual preferences and abilities.

Problem Statement
BART stations are difficult to navigate, particularly for visitors and people who do not take BART on a regular basis. This can be exacerbated by language and cultural differences as well. The purpose of this project is to improve the wayfinding system in BART station platforms in order to provide the effortless wayfinding experience, particularly to infrequent BART riders.
